Taming a middy pickup

Re: Taming a middy pickup

Are you adding or subtracting wit it? Cutting what you don't want will be less noisy than adding what you do want

I think it'll be add or subtract depending on guitar. One of my axes is weak on the low end, love the be able to tweak that up. But another is a bit raspy on the top end, so it needs to come down.

I assume the cheap components in the pedal I have just adds to much fizz under distortion. With everything flat it still adds a nasty noise to the top end.

Get a friggin Behringer 7 band eq for $25.

Got it, and it's noisy in my rig. I'm reading a lot of reviews about people fighting noise problems with eq pedals, seems more so with cheaper ones. Apparently there's even mods to make some of these EQs quieter.

Looks like MXR upgraded their 10 band to have less noise. May go for that one.

Oh dang. The MXR was very noisy for me while the Behringer is quiet.

One more thought, how about swapping pole pieces to alter the tone? I believe I've heard of people doing this. The Titans have 12 adjustable pieces that are just labeled as "nickle".
