Tanglewood guitars

Hey there, I'm look for a new acoustic guitar and I've already tried many guitars in the past few months. Once I wanted a 12 string, but I will forget about it. Tho I want to know your opinion on Tanglewoord guitars (UK company). I tried the TW170-AS-CE and I fell in an other world. My eyes closed and I enjoyed the sound of this guitar. I'm probably going to get it today for around 300$ (Yeah it is about 600$, but my bro's girlfriend work there and she will buy it for me). It has composite nut and saddles, and I'm just wondering if a switch to bone nut and saddles would make it an even nicer guitar.

I just want you guys to inform me a bit about these guitars. I'm thinking about Beandip who seems to be the acoustic guitar master over here. :friday:

Re: Tanglewood guitars

Solid spruce top, Solid mahogany back, laminated mahogany sides. The B-band A3T pickup and preamp it comes with are great. They're not head over heels amazing, but they're quite good.

Finish quality seems to be a little iffy, but most folks are able to live due to the sound. I've found nothing spectacular about them, or anything else that sets them apart from the pack in terms of tone, but they're very well made. The acoustic tone just seems to be very generic.

Tanglewood guitars are made on the opposite side of the planet to the UK. :( Excellent value for money, though. :)

There's your answer, bud. You liked it and can get it for half price. No further opinions needed.

Re: Tanglewood guitars

Hey there guys, thanks for the replies.
And I got the guitar! I was scared about the idea that the feeling might not be there anymore but it still was waiting for me. I'm enjoying it a lot right now. It looks like it's gonna take over the electric guitar for few days.
And yes when I picked it up I was curious to see where it was made and Yes, it says : "Designed in the United Kingdom. Handcrafted in China." I guess only the High end models are made in UK.

Other than that, I love the set up, it really is a low action acoustic guitar. It is quite amazing. I always changed the strings (I guess D'addario) that was on it and put on some light gauge Elixir nanoweb. It feels even better with these. I am very happy with this deal, I really am.
Tho the tuner in the guitar is Ok, but it sounds like it is not that precise because the low E isn't dead on tuned with the tuner but... Who cares about this tuner...

And yeah as I asked it in the first post, would a bone nut/saddles be a useful upgrade? The guitar is all fine, just wondering...

Thanks again! I love NGD's...

Re: Tanglewood guitars

It would be a nice acoustic improvement, but when amplified, unless you use some high quality really dense bone, it won't sound as good as it would with Tusq. Tusq is able to transfer the vibrations of the strings directly to the pickup much better than a lot of the bone stuff out there. I've started buying chunks of bone and cutting it myself, so that I can use the best stuff out there instead of getting blanks with dead or hollow spots.
