Tapered vs. Untapered pickup rings?

Looking for some metal rings for 2 humbuckers. I've noticed those selling offer short, tall, and tapered and untapered. The prices do not vary too much. What's the difference and purposed/effect of tapered pickup rings versus untapered pickup rings.

If tapered they slant a certain way? If untapered they are straight/even front and back?

Basically yes, Something like a strat style guitar would use a flat bottom ring, but a carved top with a TOM bridge might use an angled ring to better align the pickup.

If you use flat on a guitar that should have tapered, your pickup will not sit parallel to the strings.
