Tapped Esquire

Need some help, I am building an Esquire. Does anyone have a schematic of a tapped esquire with a stock three way switch? or is a 5 way needed?
Also, I'm planning on using a STL-2T Tele Hot Lead. Is there a better choice?
Regards, Dr.John

Re: Tapped Esquire

The wiring instructions are included with the pickup. But if you go to the main Duncan Home page and click on support and then do a search for Esquire I think you'll find it there too. All you need is a 3 way switch.

If you put the tapped Tele Hot in a Tele, then you need a 5 way and you'll get:

1. Vintage bridge
2. Vintage bridge and neck
3. Neck
4. Hot bridge and neck
5. Hot bridge

Re: Tapped Esquire

I looked for you but didn't find it after all. Not for an Esquire. Just the wiring diagram for a Tele with a Tapped bridge pickup. So I was wrong...sorry.

Thanks Lew, so 3 way is fine for a tapped esquire. Is the STL-2T Tele Hot Lead a good choice? Do you know what pickup is used in the Duncan signature esquire?

I don't know for sure. The one I use I ordered as an alnico 2 version from the Duncan Custom Shop. The stock one in the Duncan line is an alnico 5 model. I could be wrong but I think Seymour uses the same alnico 2 version I have and that Evan Skopp has the alnico 5 version in one of his guitars.

The alnico 2 version has softer bass and treble and more mids.
