Tapped Strat pickup wiring question

What's Your Forum Nameologist?
I have a CS Strat bridge pickup that's tapped, and I want to put it in my old Strat just to try it out without installing a switch or push/pull pot to tap it (for now). How do you wire it so it functions normally (full coil) without the tap engaged? The wires are black, white, and yellow.

Thank you very much.

BTW...whats the scoop on the pickup? I have a CS Duncan tapped strat pickup in the bridge of my number one strat!
Thank you for the fast response! Do you just use electrical tape?

It's my UGD pickup. I wanted to get one made to go with Surfer neck and middle pickups for a Strat I'm building, but I made the mistake of not asking for it wound to a certain DC resistance, so I don't think it's hot enough at 7.06K/6.44K tapped. But I realized it might work well in my old Strat with SSL-1 neck/middle. I've never been crazy about the SSL-2 bridge I have in that, it's a great sound, but just not quite hot enough. I figure if I like the sound of this, I'll have the CS wind a hotter one (up to around 9-10K, 7-8K tapped) for the new Surfer Strat. I asked for this pickup to be a 5/2 SurfBanger - 5/2 magnets wound to match Surfers with a TwangBanger bottom plate!

What are the details on yours?

Re: Tapped Strat pickup wiring question

You just don't use the tap lead, and you can figure out which is which just by measuring with the multi-meter. Tape off the exposed wire and all will be well.

Re: Tapped Strat pickup wiring question

A small piece of black tape will be fine. Mine is part of a full set I ordered last year...the neck and middle are Alnico II (staggered) 6.2k each, the middle is RW/RP the bridge is also alnico II (also staggered) but it is tapped, one tap is 6.44 the other is 8.7 and I love it! I have been thinking about getting another set just like them but Alnico 5 for a different strat I have. I set it up with a 5 way and put the tap on a push pull pot thats for the 2nd tone control, which I have wired to the bridge alone (the middle pickup has no tone control).
