Why can't I get it to sound nice & full? For some reason, I just can't tap to save my life.... any suggestions?

Re: Tapping

I'm interested in seeing what the guys have to say. I used to know how to tap (but never used the technique much) years ago, but have completely forgotten how.

Re: Tapping

Start out with climbing up a major scale or minor. Hold the root note and third of each scale but progress with your right hand up the rest of the scale.

Become familiar with easy patterns/progressions.

A scooped tone provides a great tone for tapping.

use the left side of your right hand to mute the other strings.

Re: Tapping

You've got to have a good finger strength. By this I mean you've got to have a good solid smack against the fretboard when tapping to get those notes to really sound out. I'm not meaning break the neck of your guitar, I'm just meaning if your fingers are weak on hammer ons and pull offs it'll show on tapping. This is especially true when doing full chord tapping like Cmaj9's.

Re: Tapping

Using your finger instead of pick will make it sound alot fuller and warmer.

I'll try not to butcher this explaination.... When you tap, don't just slam your finger straight down, actually flick the string at an angle towards yourself. This keeps the string ringing and sounding like it should. Just watch the pro's.
