Taurus pedals reissued!

now for all of us classic rock fans out there Moog is reissuing the original Taurus Pedals in 2009... All those Rush, Police, Genesis, Max Webster/Kim Mitchell funky bass synth sounds can be yours and at your feet to tap dance your way into funky 70's tones....

even Rush's signature Tom Saywer's opening synth track is mostly a Taurus pedal

Re: Taurus pedals reissued!

I was surprised to see The Police were using real Taurus pedals on the recent tour. Most everybody has switched to MIDI pedals with remote synth brains as required. If I read the announcement correctly, the reissue Taqurus pedal will have some more modern features (including MIDI) and the signal generation section will not be original - it will be a modern implementation of the old design, BUT it will be analog, not just samples of old units.

i wish i could really afford one... i told a buddy of mine this morning that is a huge Genesis fan that he should buy one and keep it under his computer so he can tap dance along to his Genesis stuff..

Re: Taurus pedals reissued!

Wow...now I wish I still had my originals! I never used them, got them with a Moog synth I bought way back...they did work but I never bothered with them...I bet I could get more for them now then I did when I sold them!

Re: Taurus pedals reissued!

Black Sabbath, Zero the Hero

Taurus pedals, no? Dr. Mavashi, please confirm.

Re: Taurus pedals reissued!

I use samples triggered by a midi controller pedal...they sound absolutely huge with the right speakers. It takes awhile to get used to playing bass parts with your feet, but organists have been doing it for years, and their music is much more complicated than guitar.

Re: Taurus pedals reissued!

You talking about the huge borrrrroooooong sound?

yup.. a lot of the synth sounds in that are a Taurus pedal with effects on it... plus there is Geddy adding other synth sounds as well i would imagine... but a tech here that works on Rush's old gear from their warehouse told me that Tom Saywer is mostly a Taurus pedal.... a few years ago this tech had 3 of Rush's old Tuarus pedals in his Garage that he repaired and they never came back to get them yet... they use different modern stuff these days i imagine..

Cool. Too big and too expensive for me though. I'm using this:

Smartelectronix plugin downloads
It sounds freakin' awesome. I see they've got some other cool goodies. I'll have to download some more.

Born Again is a freaking black hole of gear-truth, to find something about that album is pain in the rectum. I've talked to people who swear that he used Pro-Tubes(non AOR ones) on the tour and people who have tape sleaves with him standing in front of Pro-Tubes. And then I talked to people who swear that he recorded with either 800s or mesa and toured with 800. To find about a pedal board from that era would probably as easy as finding Social Seecurity number of the men on the grassy noll on that day in Dallas. But I will try ...
