TB-5 in a Mahogany body Strat

I'm thinking of trying a TB-5 in my solid mahogany bodied custom Strat style guitar. SSL-1 single coils do well in it. The tone of the mahogany body seems to offset the brightness of the SSL-1's and I get a tone that I'm well pleased with. However I do want to try a full-size humbucker in the bridge position. I've got two other Fender Strats, so I'm not giving-up any options of standard Strat tone by doing so. I'm thinking that the mahogany body and the TB-5 might be a good balance tonally. Has anyone else used this pickup on a mahogany body?

Thanks for your thoughts or opinions!

I've used the Custom in mahogany and it works out well. It wasn't a mahogany Strat, but I still think the TB-5 would be a good choice for that guitar.

Re: TB-5 in a Mahogany body Strat

i've got the custom in my mahogany charvel and i love it to death!!

the overall balanced eq works very well so there's no abundnace of bass, so it's not muddy, not an abundance of treble , so it's not shrill and the mids are nice and thick.

btu due to the ceramic magnet, the cleans aren't very good. but they're still very usable. what i was looking for was a hotter wound PAF style pickup, and this is what i got. it's not so hot as to sacrifice cleans and it's still hot enough to do heavier styles of music. i have some clips of it if you want to hear them:

the ones with the sh-5 are "magnolia", "smooth solo", "A melodic minor"

The Custom should serve you well in a strat, regardless of the wood. Give it a go.
