TB4 JB with ... Quarter Pound neck?

I'm building a Strat that I want to be uniquely different than my other Strats. I'm planning no middle pickup, just a TB4 JB at the bridge and a single coil that can compete with it at the neck. I'm going to use the spin-a-split circuit for the JB so I'm thinking a tapped Quarter Pound at the beck might be a decent match.

Any opinions on that combination?

Never tried that particular combo, but it should work fine.

I´m not sure whether the spin a split will work with a tapped SC, though.... IIRC the "Dial a Tap" is a slightly different wiring mod....

Re: TB4 JB with ... Quarter Pound neck?

I think I made it confusing... I'm using the spin a split on the TB4 and was going to use a switch on the SC. Sorry.

I will investigate the Dial a Tap suggestion. Thanks for the suggestion, Zerb.

Ehm, actually, I´m stupid and can´t read, you said you wanted to use the SaS on the JB :smack::laugh2:

Should work just fine.

Though of course adding the DaT would definbitely give you more control ofer the QP, which isn´t necessarily a bad thing at all. I think it could even be done in one pot space with a concentric pot (if I remember teh Diagrams correctly)...

Maybe add a phase switch for that last bit of tonal versatility possible, essentially giving you all options you would otherwise have with both PUs available in or out of phase... should make for some pretty interesting variations :)

Zerb, Been looking for a dial a tap diagram but can't find it. Do you have a link? Is it simply wiring a pot to be a variable resistor between the tap point and ground?

Re: TB4 JB with ... Quarter Pound neck?

Ummm, I thought the dial a tap was a different ckt... something for single coils...? Is it just another name for spin a split?

I thought so too, but seeing the diagram it hit me: single coils simply have one wire less (Either the red or the white, not sure).... and that kind of "self omits" itself ;)

BUt your thoughts were correct: On a SC it´s called a "Dial a Tap", becasue you can use it to dial in teh exact output level desired. On Humbuckers its the "Spin a Split" because you can "spin in" the exact amout of split you want.
