Just a note to say thanks to the many (Lew in particular) who have posted their 2 cents on this and other similar pickups. I have visited this site many times over the past few months and have read many reviews in an effort to find the right pickup. Finally decided on the 59 for my Mahogany Ibanez s470DXQM with maple top and am very impressed. The tone is bang on what I was looking for. Love playing around with old VH.
Also just put in a Dimarzio HFH in the neck and the match is great. Have a look at the pic. Also have a listen to Unchained in the Tips n Clips area. That's recorded with my Yamaha SA2000S (ES335 copy) with an old PAF-style pickup in the bridge. Think I'll have to get to it again but with the 59 this time. (and a bar)
