Tech 21 Flyrig 5 v2

I recently bought a flyrig and really liked it... Until my last gig. We sound checked and everything was great, then when we were ready to play I had no sound. I think it just over heated. We were playing in 92 degree heat and direct sun. Luckily, I had my old Zoom pedal with me and switched to it. Has anyone seen overheating problems like this before? I was thinking about building something to keep the sun off it, but will that be effective enough in high temperatures? Does anyone know the operating temperature range of this pedal?

I have one of these and can't say that I've had that happen although I can see why it would or why anything with electronics that gets overly hot outdoors in those conditions would stop working. My phone will get too hot to charge in my truck just from the sun coming in thru the windows. I live in TX. It's been a hot summer. If/when you come across that kind of situation again, after soundcheck, move it out of direct sun until you are ready to go on. Maybe a reflective blanket on it to keep direct sun away until you're ready to go.

electronics dont like heat. i havent had a pedal shut down like that but ive had class d power amps do it a few times

I've had a Fly Rig v2, and never had this issue, but any pedal in direct sunlight can easily heat up above normal operating temps quickly. Playing a lot of outside Florida shows in the summer, I have made a small 'sun shield' (and a fan) for the pedals.

Are you sure you were not in tuning mode? The led is hard to see in bright sunlight. I never had such an issue in the 2 years i had mine

I have to vote sunlight/heat.

I had a mixing board go to sleep from Orlando sun one afternoon...

Thanks for the thoughts. This week it happened again midway through set 1 while playing in air conditioning. The heat must have done some damage since I had no problems prior. Just going to go back to using my old Zoom pedal.
