Is it just me? Or does it seem Tech 21 stuff just doesn't get the love? Of other easily accessible pedals.
I do not own a Tech 21 Hot Rod Plexi... but I'm thinking that i would like too...
As opposed to a Wampler or Carl Martin or others. (Aside from a Marvel)
Is it just my imagination? Am I uninformed? Where's the love?

I have a Fly Rig 5, which has the Plexi circuit inside...it rocks! I dig my Tech 21 stuff. I have a Trademark 60 amp that is awesome, too.

Thanks Mincer! I like the boost on it and have yet to hear the MID control (In replacement of the THUMP) I like the overall design. I have been salivating over the Bogner LaGrange since it came out... But quite honestly, I think I need to keep my KNOBS at a minimum... I would certainly have to replace those "Chicken Head" knobs... with something lower profile.

I have a MarvelDrive, Carl Martin and Tech21 SansAmp. The Marvel as-is is the closest to my Marshall amps.

My Tech21 has more accurate sound but the response isn't the same. It takes a little compression after the output to behave like a real amp. Maybe the Fly Rigs solve this by now?

The Carl Martin is really good but better for high gain lead stuff. Setting to edge of break up crunch is hi-mid/trebly and still needs compression and a little eq to sound like the real thing.

Re: Tech 21 Hot Rod Plexi? Good? Bad?

Thanks beaubrummels... Great information... Just what I need...

I have been using Mad Professor Royal Blue for "Low Gain" and boosting it with an EP Booster...
But want a good MIAB sound to complement. Or... That could maybe replace everything...

The Marvel Drive is a marvel... I wish they sold them at the major retailers for financing.

I am very picky about the "consistency or smoothness" of the gain...
So even as popular as the Dirty Little Secret is... it sounds a little Grainy & Rude to me in comparison to the ones mentioned. But alas... I have not played it in person.

I know this is a well worn subject... but perhaps also an eternal one! lol
I wish I could just crank my JTM45 up to saturation... like I used to do my Blackface Bassmans in the 70's
