Tech 21 Trademark 10

How does this little beast fare as a "tone on the go" practice/jammin'/recording amp?

For solid-state gear, Tech 21 seem to get mostly positive reviews. I don't like the feel of digital amps so I'm interested in a portable analogue solid-state amp with some decent tones packed inside. I've got some tube amps but the volume and weight issues are actually making me hesitant to play electric guitar.

I'm considering the TM10 as an alternative if it can prove itself more than just a toy one might get over quickly.

They seem to work pretty well for these two guys:

Re: Tech 21 Trademark 10

its one of the best sounding ss amps ive ever used. the speaker is kinda small and isnt the best but it works and into a good speaker the amp sounds great for low volume stuff. i think they 10 sounds better than any of the others but i dont think they make it anymore.

Re: Tech 21 Trademark 10

It's an amazing little box IMHO. No presets or memory, and it's only slightly bigger than a lunch box. Decent volume for practicing, especially with a 1x12" cab or a Power Engine 60 (Tech 21 poweramp). The "Tweed" setting doesn't seem as loud as "British" or "California". It's not as touch sensitive as a tube amp, but there are lots of tones available in the box. Headphone out works great for practice.

Unfortunately, they stopped making the TradeMark 10 and replaced it with the TradeMark 30. Just my opinion here, but it seemed to lose some of the mojo with that change. I bought one "on approval" and gave it back after a week.

They are really nice amps. Excellent marshall like tones. I wasn't as much of a fan of the Mesa settings but they aren't bad. Not exactly fender clean either but it works in a pinch

For the money you really get a versatile amp with spring reverb, fx loop, sansamp output and more. They go for pretty reasonable prices too though they are a bit higher than any other 10watt amp due to demand (and great sound)

I just sold mine for around $175 and its a fine amp for the money

Re: Tech 21 Trademark 10

i have a trademark 60, which is my main gigging amp after my mesa was getting all beat up. they make some great stuff- dynamic and warm...lots of different sounds in those amps.

I've owned it for a few years now and it TOTALLY delivers on its promise. Great sounding amp for low volume practicing and for recording. Here are a couple of clips I've recorded with it. The first is dirty and second is clean. Both were recorded using my Strat loaded with Carvin pickups. The amp was plugged straight into my computer's soundcard. I put a Boss delay pedal in the amp's effects loop.

Re: Tech 21 Trademark 10

I've always like the quality of the sound from Tech21 amps. Compared to other modelers, they seem a bit more warm and less sterile to my ears. Lately I've had some minor GAS for a 4-10 combo and was thinking of either the Fender Super Reverb or Deville. Then this thread happened and after a little searching found this 4-10. Definitely a little less expensive than the all-tube Fenders. Aside from not holding a candle to the Super's tones, how would one of these Tech21's stand up against the DeVille?

Nice tone, and very nice playing bro! Loved the dirty clip! :bigthumb:

I had an original sansamp way back when and it was my main home rig through an old red knob fender Princeton Chorus SS amp or directly into my stereo system. Very versatile! They don't sound just like a real amp, but no doubt they have great tone, especially for the home or "quiet gig" player. And they are more dynamic than digital modellers. The only thing I hate is that "squishy" compression they have on top. But they are very articulate and have a nice feel. Cool amps. I've been contemplating picking up the T10 or T30 myself.

Re: Tech 21 Trademark 10

I got mine from Dave (theodie) and that's the amp I play most frequently. My other amps are Mesa Boogie Mark IV, Fender 59 Bassman RI Relic and Traynor YVC40.

If there is no way you can crank your amps to get the beautiful natual overdrive from the power tubes, Trademark 10 is probably one of the best alternatives out there. It sounds great clean and dirty. Great for practice, family and neighbors.

Re: Tech 21 Trademark 10

My tech uses a TM10 on his workbench. Great little tone monster. I wouldn't hesitate recommending that amp or a hybrid like the Vox ADVT series.
