tele bridge plate blanks???

Hey everybody. Is there someone out there who makes and (hopefully) custom cuts telecaster bridge plates? I'm trying to make a 12 string telecaster with a jaguar pickup in the bridge position. Of course, nobody makes those chrome telecaster bridge plates that are cut and routed for a 12 string bridge piece and a jaguar pickup, because it's just ... well, it doesn't make any sense. But I'd like it to make sense. If any of you more knowledgeable than I (and that seems to be just about everybody in this forum) can point me in the right direction, I'd like to hear back from you.
Thanks,
Nevada

Re: tele bridge plate blanks???

I know this answer sucks...but it's just steel.

If you get a blank & have the right kind of drill bits & stuff you could concieveably bang one out yourself. Might look like hell but you'll get better by the third or fourth bridge!

You might also be able to bring a stock Tele bridge & all the other pieces to a good bike shop (that would be motorcycles) or autobody shop & get them to build one or two for 'ya. The big chains won't touch it...you'll have to find an indie place where the guys are covered with ink. They usually love doing small stuff like that...that whole music & motors 'outlaw' deal comes together!

Re: tele bridge plate blanks???

My answer won't help much either, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the steel in guitar bridges underwent some special process. "Carbonizing", maybe? It made the outside layer of steel act like hardened steel so that saddle adjust screws and intonating didn't just drill holes through the bridge.

Thanks for the ideas. I love this forum - people write back by the time I've finished my lunch. Maybe I'll just have to have a machinist do the work for me. But I'll see about Frets on the Net, as well. Much appreciated!
Cheerio,
