Tele bridge - string through bridge or body - which and why?

Glue? What'd you do?

I haven't done anything to mine as it's fairly new (8 months) and I tend to keep strings on for a long time.

Yup, as Jeremy said, the tiniest dab of glue was enough just to keep it in place when stringless.
I've had the Dinky for even less (maybe 4-5 months), but I've been fiddleing around with it alot, nut, pups, pots, tuners, neck and fretwork, so it became slightly bothersome trying to find the little sh*t all the time.

I had to buy 1 replacement for my mutt Lead II and it had ridges, or was knurled (I think that's the fancy term). It took a little effort to install it.

Hmmm, thinking about it, my Bullet S-3 has been Kahler'd since late 1983. I never took the ferrules out of it. They have never fallen out. Maybe Fender glues them in at the factory?
