Tele Custom Build

I’m building a Tele Custom with a CuNiFe pickup in the neck with 1M control pots and a SD Tele Hot Rail for the bridge pup with 500K control pots. The Fender WRP has a coax with a single lead, no brainer. The Hot Rail has 4 leads (two coils stacked). My question is, would there be a tone advantage to splitting that pup or would it be best if I tie the red and white leads together and run it in standard humbucker config?

wondering if maybe somebody has done this before and has some experience with this setup.

thanks

Welcome to the forum!

The Hot Rails may be out of phase with the Fender pickup, so just be aware of that. I don't think it is worth splitting a Hot Rails, but it is worth using it in parallel, which is a much more unique sound. To me, none of the smaller rails pickups sound that great split.

Great, thanks for the reply. I’ll be doing the preliminary wiring this weekend and will watch for the phase shift. I didn’t think splitting would be beneficial.

When I get it done I’ll try and upload a sound bit. Mary had a little lamb or something complicated like that.
