Tele Hot Lead Stack humming?

I recently purchased a Fender Mexican Standard Tele with a Duncan Hot Lead Stack for the bridge position. We installed the pickup and it works fine but there is an annoying humming while plugged into everything from my Mesa Single Rectifier, to a bass amp, to the simplest practice amp. We tried everything and got the wiring schematic from this website and we still cant figure it out. It also hums when you switch to the neck pickup and only stops when you touch either the volume or tone knobs. It clearly isnt supposed to hum like this? Do we have to change the polarity of the pickup or something like this? Any help will be appeciated. thanks

Make sure that the bridge is grounded. That's common on teles.

the black wire from the pickup should be attached to the bridge some where. mine attach to one of the mounting screws but i have also heard of guys just soldering the ground wire to the bridge plate itself.

that worked and the humming stopped. but now the Hot Stack that I installed has considerably less output than before. Proof of this is the neck pickup has like twice as much output and now the bridge is just plain dead. hardly any output. does anyone know why this has occured?

Sounds like your running it off one coil. check your wiring, you may have misplaced a wire.

ok that sounds right...do you know what wire is responsible for if the pickup is a single coil or humbucker? and what do i have to do to make it use both coils? thanks

the red/white connection is the series link between the coils, but actually stacked pups are hotter with only one coil on.

if you are having volume issues after you check the wiring then id check the pup heights
