tele little '59 diagram: ground wire?

Re: tele little '59 diagram: ground wire?

That wire attaches to the brigde.

The other end is attached, obviously, to the back of the pot.

You can just sandwich the lead between the body and the bridgeplate without having to solder it. Take your time and it will stay. That's what I've done for mine.

FWIW- don't waste your time trying to split the lil 59 coils like a lot of folks do with full sized HBs. It just won't be full enough.

Re: tele little '59 diagram: ground wire?

Thanks, I thought thats what I needed to do. And I am not going to bother with tapping it. I will just use my neck if I want single coil tones.

Re: tele little '59 diagram: ground wire?

Guys I have everything as the picture has it, but I still have this hum that I would think have to do with the ground. This hum disapears whenever I touch either the bridge, the control panel knobs, or the metal plate on the neck pickup.

What gives?

Re: tele little '59 diagram: ground wire?

Check all yor grounds again. Solder the ground wire from the bridge for a good electrical connection, as Skarekrough said in post #2

I would respectfully disagree.

I find the split coils on the Little 59' in my Tele adds a great amount of variety to the sounds I can get with it.

+1. Series/parallel will probably keep it full enough though. I've read some posts on here about having vintage rails and lil '59s in parallel with some good results.

:hijacked: How do feel about the 59 in general in your tele? Do you prefer it over singles for a little more rock feel? I'm kind of looking for something to make me like my tele a little more :)

To me the 59' made my Tele a guitar that I can put on and cover all bases all night for a three-set gig.

I originally went to the 59' because it was an overly bright guitar. It had an Ash body and maple neck and just got ice-picky way too easily.

I'd had Quarter Pounders in there and EMG's and both of them were just way too bright so I turned to a humbucker to take some of that out of there.

I went with the Little 59' in the bridge and a Classic Stack in the neck along with 500k push-pull pots.

The extra output is undeniable and now that I have a set of Duncan 59's in a Les Paul I can testify that alot of the tonal elements are there in that pickup. However, when it's split I get much of the classic Tele single-coil sound. No, I wouldn't pass it off as a straight-up Roy Buchanan sound, but it does sound distinctly like a Tele.

For "rocking it up" I can think of no better pickup. It can hang with my Les Pauls any day.

Re: tele little '59 diagram: ground wire?

This might be what I need. I feel the same way about mine now, just too many highs. I dont have the route for a full HB either.

I'm kinda funny about 60 cycle hum as well...it drives me way more nuts than just about anyone else when I'm gigging out. Of all the guitars I own only one has true single coils any more and it's staying that way so I can have it to remember how much I hate hum!

The Little 59' was a bit of a no-brainer that way....

That's cool-I think my advice was off in retrospect. We should all try it to see what happens-It is another possibility in a setup that should be experienced!:14:
