Tele neck pup tone issues

1985 MIJ "Double" Esquire. All Duncan. Broadcaster "Pup" is super.
Neck pup is too "warm". Perhaps a cap on the output would "flatten" output.

This classic Duncan neck pup is not classic Tele to my ears. Honestly a "TwangKIng" sounds more authentic to me.

I understand Seymour's single coil pup is advertised as "warm".

Perhaps the newer matching pup for broadcaster would meet my needs.

It's not me, I've talked to other players. I am tempted to spend $50 on the TwangKing.

Trying to keep it "Duncan" without adding another pup to my parts box!

Advice on cap value for single coil output for "less warm" output?
Any other feedback other than buy a Dimarzio !!!

the tone cap wont do much to help the high end. old vintage tele neck pups kinda sound dark thats why i dont like em. pulling the cover off will make a noticeable difference but you lose the look of the chrome cover.

i pretty much always use a strat pup, firebird pup or mini humbucker in the neck of my teles.

you can use a cap to roll off some bottom but not really to add high end

Twang King in the neck is killer!

I know, you're looking SD, but it is a great choice.

1+ Twang King neck pup - bright and clear for a tele neck pup

Otherwise go the hot rod SM-1 Firebird or strat pickup route

No one pickup brand has every eventuality covered. If you like the Twang King then go for it. I have a set of Bare Knuckle Flat 52s in my Tele and the neck pickup is also bright and clear, Strat-like to my ears, though I haven't compared with a Twang King. Horses for courses.
