i have a fender tele and everything is almost perfect with it Except the neck pup is maybe half the volume of the bridge pup. i have a dimarzio chopper t in the bridge and a dimarzio area t in the neck. any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hmm, could be that the Chopper is just much higher output than the neck pickup. Is the neck PU raised up as high as you can manage? If it comes down to it, you can put a Quarter Pound neck pickup in there to get a better output balance.

yeah the chopper is pretty hot. i was just looking at the duncan hot rails tele neck pup and i'm thinking that might even the output. not sure thou

Re: Tele neck pup too quiet, HELP

Indeed the Chopper T packs a punch. I have not tried it together with an Area T neck but that is a very low output pickup. You may end up setting the neck pickup as high as it goes without touching the strings and setting the bridge pickup unusually low. I use the Chopper T with a DiMarzio DP240 mini humbucker in my Tele. These two match very well in volume and tone.

DiMarzio does not make a hotter noiseless T neck pickup. If you want more output then it's either a T neck pickup from a different manufacturer or you have to go to a different type of pickup, e.g. a strat single coil, a P90 or a minihumbucker/Firebird type - all of which require modifications to the guitar and/or the pickguard.

Re: Tele neck pup too quiet, HELP

I switched to a firebird style pup in my tele neck position years ago and never looked back

Re: Tele neck pup too quiet, HELP

Minis and firebird necks pair well with hotter tele bridges. They also don't get the mud that full-sized hummers do.
