Tele neck recommendations

I have a 2013 MIM FSR Tele. Currently has a Little ‘59 bridge and a Quarter Pound neck.

I’m primarily a rock player but I already have several guitars that do high gain very well.
I’m looking to have this guitar sort of bridge the gap from blues rock tones to a more typical rock type tones. So the neck pickup will lean toward the blues/rock type sounds.
I like the little ‘59 well enough so I will leave that in the guitar.
The QP has a really nice tubular quality that I like but overall the pickup just isn’t smooth and warm enough.
I like p90 type neck tones as well as the A2 Rocket Queen Fokin pickup i just put in my Kramer. So I’d like to keep that round, tubular attack but with a smoother, sweeter yet more subdued top end.

A2P?
Five-Two?
Hot Tele neck?
Vintage Tele neck?
Antiquity?

Thanks all!!!

Therein lies the dilemma!!

I’ve always been a high output pickup player.
So I’m not that versed in vintage spec pups.
And iirc, the antiquities aren’t wax potted? That is probably a deal breaker for me because I will on occasion play this guitar with a good amount of gain.
I’m pretty certain the A2P will work, but the 5-2 intrigues me too. That could be a serious contender.

I wonder if the Hot tele neck would match the ‘59 bridge well enough?

Re: Tele neck recommendations

When I was scheming about a tele, I was thinking hot tele neck and lil 59 bridge.

Re: Tele neck recommendations

I'm only focusing on my Warmoth strats right now. No tele so far.

Re: Tele neck recommendations

The Five Two is excellent, and so is the A2P, if you are going for more traditional neck tone. I like a Seth Lover the best (and to me, it makes a Tele a usable instrument), but I get where you are coming from.

Re: Tele neck recommendations

Of the pickups on my above list I’m liking both the 5-2 and the hot tele.
YouTube has lots of vids with the Hot tele under gain but more cleanish vids with the 5-2.

Re: Tele neck recommendations

I think I’ve settled on the Hot Tele. Seems to fit my style and sound preference more.

Now to just contact Duncan and start the exchange process.

Re: Tele neck recommendations

Are the SD Vintage Tele neck pups noiseless? And what would I pair them with for the bridge? Thanks!

Re: Tele neck recommendations

Duncan or similar vintage Firebird mini. You're welcome.

Re: Tele neck recommendations

Duncan vintage tele neck is ok, but I do prefer it without cover, matter of taste, if you want a rounder tone leave the cover on. That said I do like the Texas special neck but it seems I'm quite the only one who likes it.

I actually shipped the QP back to Duncan on 10/1. And I’m going to swap it for the Hot tele neck.

The kicker is that it was supposed to be delivered last Thursday 10/4. Well tracking showed it leaving here (east coast) and arriving in Santa Barbra on time. It never went out for delivery. A few day later tracking showed it back on the east coast. Now it’s showing in CA again.
Needless to say I’m not happy with the USPS. I’m going to write an email and ask for my money back. I paid for a priority shipment and it should have been delivered almost a week ago now.

Stacked: Vintage Tele Stack neck.

True single coil: A2Pro Tele neck. This is the greatest neck Tele pickup I've ever tried.

Re: Tele neck recommendations

I'm loving the Bill Lawrence L45S...technically a dual rail humbucker in a single coil size. Warm but still articulate and can handle cleans and hard drive. (that being said, my Tele is a Warmoth Roasted Swamp Ash with a 1 piece QS Roasted Maple neck...great sustain unplugged so I think most pickups would sound great in it.)

A Firebird pickup in the neck of a Tele is gold. Not sure if you'd consider that route but it is an awesome way to make a Tele rock.
