Tele pick up on Ibanez good idea?

Hi,

I have an Ibanez (GRGR121EX - fixed bridge, scale length - 25.5). Its a decent starter guitar but not much else in my opinion.

Do you think it would be a good idea to install an SD tele pickup on it. The reason is obviously that I wanna get a tele tone.

Even though I am not very knowledgeable and have very little experience in playing an instruments, I think most of the tone is reliant on the scale length and quality of the pick up. Anything else has only little impact on the tone (not counting amp). But that is more conjecture than scientific fact.

If you want believable Telecaster tones, the guitar has to have certain features. The budget Ibanez is never going to provide that.

I'm thinking you may have to route the body to get the Tele pickup to fit properly.

Here's an opportunity to get yourself a good starter, that even a pro will be proud of. Beat the time out the Ibby while you save up some cash... then go buy one of the classic vibe squiers. I hear they are d*mn good for the money..

Wah? I thought anything with 3 saddles and weak pickups sounded like a tele? :nana:
