tele project is jsut that much closer to being done

Looking for Real Life
well, i put the hot rail in last night after work, unfortunately i got off at 12 & tele bridge pickups are a sumbitch to put in, so i didn't get done till about 1am & by that time it was too late to really testdrive them

but i woke up early thismorning, and MAN those things are fantastic. Amazing dirt, suprisingly awesome cleans, the words "les paul killer" come to mind, heh (IMHO)

sorry for the bad quality, my webcam cost me all of $20

all thats left now is a no load tone pot, 3 way, new 'guard, and a mini humbucker (vintage or custom, can't decide)

oh, and i named the guitar Carl, after my grandpa, who's pretty hardcore & now lives in arkansas in the middle of friggin nowhere. It looks like somethin he'd dig & it's souped up like all the hot rods he drove back in the 50's & 60's, and much like him it may set the record for number of bar fights in a town south of where i live, haha

Re: tele project is jsut that much closer to being done

prolly same color, spaced for a mini hum &... that's it

and before i get ridiculed for buying a nashville & wanting a 2 pickup guitar, well, they got a pretty universal route under the guard, had i gotten a highway 1, i would've hadda rout to fit in the mini hum

It's cool. I'd grab a nashville over a standard MIM becuase of the larger frets.
But i'd turn the thing into an esquire and add a bigsby to mine.

I'd put the SM1 in the neck. It kills in my strat's neck position. Really clear and fat at the same time.

he's right!! i own both and i'd say go with the vintage hands down!! i'll tell you what drew...if you get the vintage and don't like it i'll trade you my custom mini hum for it!!

Re: tele project is jsut that much closer to being done

hah, sounds like a good deal

I was thinking that one anyway, seems like it'd be much much better for blues

by this time next week i should have the rest of the stuff in, I'm so excited, heh

and having the 3 way & only 2 pickups will be nice, the control cavity is PACKED right now

speaking of which, the pickup is buzzing a lot, but it stops when i touch one of the knobs

is that normal for high output?

i went black wire - 5 way, green - ground, red & white - soldered together, and i didn't do anything with that silver wire

Re: tele project is jsut that much closer to being done

silver to the same ground as green....they are both ground wires.......and touching the knob to quiet the buzz is grounding the circuit.....so it means you have a loose ground somewhere.....or in your case, your other ground wire is just not soldered at all

+1!

connect that other ground to ground and you should be good!
