I have a MIM TELE.. i would like to X the bridge pup, the choices that i have narrowed down to # 1 little 59- #2 hot rails- #3 hot stack, i"m into Classic rock .Hard rock. hrd drivin Blues- some early Metal. i really like the sound of TOM KIEFER's tele of cinderella, did searchs on him could not find any reference to his pup , in fact his tone is the only reason that i got this tele, all of my other gtrs are H-buckers, i would like for the pup to clean up somewhat, but want it to ROCK. i listened to the S D sound samples , but my speakers are crap, could not tell much difference between them, also thinking of X ing the neck pup, any suggestions will be apreciated. thanks,, rammer

Re: Tele -pup X ??

I went to Cinderella's site and then to Tom's site and found what looks like a 50's era Tele. It's probably either a real 50's Tele or a 51 Nocaster RI. In every pic he has his hand over the bridge so I can't se what pickup is in there. The neck pickup looks stock...

Re: Tele -pup X ??

Dude from the Black Keys gets a really crushing blues tone with a Tele and some DiMarzio rails humbucker...and I've ONLY heard glowing reviews for Hot Rails for Tele.

If it was me I'd install the Hot Rails with a push/pull pot on the volume knob to split it, and probably just leave the neck pickup stock.

Plus with Duncan's return policy you can try them all within a month and see which one is "YOU" y'know?

Re: Tele -pup X ??

A great sounding pickup for this application is Dimarzio's Tone Zone T. I've used ( and like ) the Lil 59 for this sore of stuff, but the TZT is ( so far ) the best I've tried. As a bonus, the split sound is very good for authentic tele snap and twang.

Re: Tele -pup X ??

Hot Stack.

Sure, it might seem a bit underpowered compared to the other choices, but it rocks pretty hard if you're amp can produce enough gain. Plus, the cleans will be way better than the other pickups mentioned.
