Tele pups for alder body maple/rosewood neck

Just ordered Fender Tele (alder body + maple/rosewood neck). This is indeed my first tele. Based on my exprience with strat (APS/duckbucker/SSL1) , I'd be happier with vintage sound. I listened to the soundbytes and I like STL-1/STR-1 Vintage '54 for Tele® Lead/Rhythm the best. What's your take on this combo? Also, what would you suggest. BTW, when it comes to strat, I am more of "guitar to tube amp" type of guy. Thanks.

I haven't played enough different tele pups to make a recommendation, but I do have a newer AS tele, and they sound pretty good stock, IMO. If that's what you're getting I'd say play it a while.
