Tele STL 52-1 Q's.

The STL 52-1 Tele bridge pickup. Also called the Nashville Studio Tele Lead. This is the one with A5 rods for the low E, A and D strings and A2 rods for the G, B and high E strings. On paper it sure sounds like a good idea and some Harmony Central reviewers have said it's a very even sounding pickup. That description of "even" is exactley what I'd like to find in a Tele bridge pickup but have'nt found yet.

Has anybody tried this pickup? Is it really as even sounding as described? Do the higher strings have the same "umph" as the lower strings?

I haven't tried that particular pu but I've made a few mixed mag Strat pu's and it's a very cool idea that should translate well to the Tele.

Sometimes on some guitars if you have all A5's, the low strings sound great but the high strings are a little harsh, but if you have all A2's, the high strings are sweet and right but the low strings are kind of dull and/or weak, losing the snap and twang you want.

The 5/2 thing solves that problem, a great idea by Seymour. And yes, the output is nice and even.

i used to have a set of the nashville studios and i thought they were very balanced
