Tele with filtertron bridge - which neck pickup?

segundo

I bought a second telecaster, and I want to hot-rod this one. I'm thinking that I will put a TV Jones filtertron style pickup in the bridge position (probably going to go with the Powertron or the TV Classic Plus). I'm not sure what to put in the neck position, though

The guitar is a standard tele - alder body / maple fingerboard. I looked under the pickguard, and it does have the universal size rout.

I would like to be able to get some AC/DC and ZZ Top and maybe some 1970's Rolling Stones out of it on overdrive, but also get a good clean tone for a bit of jazz and some rockabilly.

Do you guys have any suggestions for a neck pickup that will complement the TV Jones?
Humbucker? P90? Mini-humbucker? Something else?

a Classic neck is a good match with a Classic + bridge

I'd check his site for dimensions though, just to be sure -- verify the depth.

Thanks for responding.

I thought about putting in two filtertrons, but I kind of like the idea of having two different types of pickup to get a wider variety of tones. I might still change my mind on that, though. I tried out a few gretsch guitars at the local store, and I was really digging the Jet with Powertrons. Didn't get to try anything with Classics (they had a 6120, but there must have been something wrong with it because it sounded muddy in comparison)

Curly - I will check the depth of the rout. If it is too shallow, I see that TV offers a short polepiece option. Do you think that would have a noticeable effect on the tone?

sorry, I can't say about the polepiece question ... I just know that when I tried to use a Seth in my US tele, I had a hard time getting it low enough.
(TV Jones is very helpful for these sorts of questions.)

I have a strat with a Classic/ Classic + combo, plus some clips here:

... a VERY good sounding guitar, if I say so myself. :)

I'll also be doing another tele project, and facing the same decision as you ... Classics or Powertrons? It might be nice to have something different, but the Classics are close to perfection.
