Tele with strat neck pick up

I am considering building a custom guitar, My question is - I want to use a quarter pound bridge pick up, what strat neck pick up can I use to compliment
the bridge.
My playing style is heavy blues, rock, metal. I love the tone that comes out of a tele. But I don't like the looks of the smaller chrome dome neck pick up.
It will be an alder or ash body, with a maple neck and maple fret board. And more than likely a 3 barrel compensated brass bridge. and 25 1/2 scale.
Vintage tele bridge, and the neck pick up will be screwed into the route of the neck position for warmth. Any suggestions ?...........mike

the APS 1 or 2 is a good candidate.

i have a beat up black tele that has a tapped qp tele lead with a tapped custom flat for strat in the neck i use a 5 way and get lots of cool tones. even before i put the 5 way in and utilized the taps the two pups balanced well

By power I assume you mean output. Anyway, that depends a lot on the specs of the Strat pu. But assuming a Tele rhythm and a Strat pu of roughly the "same" specs*, the Strat pu will sound a little fatter because it is a wider pickup.

*(Tele uses #43 wire while Strat uses #42 so you have to kind of "convert" the DCR numbers. 7.6k Tele rhythm roughly = 6.5k Strat.)

Mike,

I'd go with jeremy's suggestion ... the QP really wants to see a hotter-than-vintage type pickup, so the custom flat is a good match.

A tapped bridge pickup is also a good idea, since it gives you a lot of versatility at the flip of a switch, without much fiddling with the volume and tone pots.
The 5 way wiring is pretty simple too.
