Telecaster, neck humbucker

Re: Telecaster, neck humbucker

My fave Tele neck pup is the DM Virtual T Neck. Warm, yet clear sounding. It sort of reminds me of the neck position minibucker in a Les Paul Deluxe that I had years ago. That comparison is based on memory, however, not a head to head trial. It is a humbuckering pup.

Re: Telecaster, neck humbucker

I am currently rebuilding one of my tele's and I want to put a humbucker in the neck also. I have never done any wiring before so I am kind of scared. I am trying to decide which pick up for the neck. Let us know how it turns out. I may need some help wiring when it comes time.

Good Luck

Lew suggested a Pearly Gates when I was trying to decide what to put in my Warmoth Thinline tele. That's what I got, and it sounds great! Thanks, Lew!

I am using an antiquity HB in the neck of my tele and could not be happier.

BTW phat cats are also very cool!

what is the material of your tele's body? isn't the Antiquity HB (A2) a little muddy on the neck position of a tele (alder, in my experience)?

i have an A5 humbucker at the neck of an ash-bodied tele and it sound pretty clear... well i have 500k pots on those and bypassed the tone pot.

I had a JAZZn paired with the JDb in my tele for a long time: the two of them in parallel was the best sound they made, for my money. I routed the guitar to H-S-H; the PearlyGates neck makes the best sound that ever came out of this guitar. It splits to a very close approximation of a classic tele single-coil neck sound too.
