Telecaster under $300?

Hey everyone,

After working on this guys guitar, he gave me this free 54 tone switch control panel for a telecaster which obviously gives you 54 different tone combinations with the 5 toggle switches it has on it, as well as a tone pot and volume pot. The only problem is.... I don't have a Tele so it's of no use to me at this point in time. Although I have always wanted a relic Tele, I think it's time to put that dream aside and get myself a real cheap one and just mod it a bit, preferably a "players" Tele, I don't mind too much about the brand. Does anyone know any places where I could score a decent cheap Tele for under $300 AUD? It's gotta be in Australia too and I'm not interested in buying a kit.

Cheers,
Kyle.

You are into the very cheapest guitars there. Squier Affinity. But they are about $350 at discount price.

Second vote for the Affinity. I had one, modded everything on it and really enjoyed it stock. I picked mine up on the local classifieds for 120$ canadian... They're alright with a little love. I find the finish a little thick on them but I find them pretty comfy and awesome to play. Do itttttttt :biglaugh:

Guitar Fetish perhaps

I second this. The youth pastor at my church has a GFS Strat copy and only uses it during performances because he insists it is too high quality to be used for practice. He's got the Slick model with the relic. If you're into building they also have some nice paisley bodies in stock right now.

Re: Telecaster under $300?

Sounds like your best option is to hit Ebay and start building a parts Tele.

Re: Telecaster under $300?

That is gouging. I got two for oars on my rowboat because they are cheaper than actual oars.
It's not all gouging. The Australian dollar is worth 78 US cents. Plus there's customs taxes and prohibitive shipping costs. Dealer cost for a MIM Strat in Australia is probably higher than US MAP (after conversion to $Aus) and a good portion of that probably goes to the government.

Doesn’t Maton make a Tele or they used to. They are much cheaper in Australia than here in the US.

I bet the Sinaloans could get them there cheap. Phone em up and ask
