Plus our Soso rocks em.

What qualities do the Teles have for metal?

Re: Telecasters for Metal

If you can make the right tone for the music happen, they can do any style you can play.

This was recorded with a stock Highway-1 Texas Tele. Single coils, 3-barrel saddle and all.

Gojira & Jim Root FTW!! I always liked the Tele's but didn't like the fact that the first thing that comes to mind is twangy country music (I HATE COUNTRY). Nice to see them exceling in other areas.

Re: Telecasters for Metal

I recently acquired my friend's almost new Fender MIM 60th Anniversary Tele. (Essentially, a MIM Std with a fancy embossed neck plate.) Changed to a SD Custom Shop Tele Lead Stack and… wow!

Just need to find the best match for the neck postion pickup. The SD P90 Stack isn't quite hitting da spot.

Re: Telecasters for Metal

Try a hot P-90... or there are some DiMarzio humbuckers in that form factor that'll work.

I have these:

Not exactly classic traditional Telecasters but more modern, especially the Carvin TL60. The MIM Tele has a Strat Hot Stack neck and a Tele Hot Stack bridge. The TL60 has the stock (back in 2002) Carvin pups: C22T bridge and C22N neck.
