TeleGib project: FLAT humbucker mounting rings?

Hey all, I'm putting together a Telegib-style guitar using a cheap Squier Tele as a base.

Here is the proposed design: http://i.imgur.com/Gkl0gGY.jpg

I purchased a new pickguard with a humbucker cavity, and I got the humbucker mounting rings in the mail today.

However, even though they are definitely short enough to fit under the strings, they are slightly slanted.

On the neck position pickup, since my pickguard is thick, it looks like the strings (when I put them on) might touch the higher end of the mounting ring, especially when fretting notes high on the fretboard, which is obviously a problem. Mind you, though, I'm using the eye test and have not wired everything up yet.

Does anyone know where to get short, COMPLETELY FLAT humbucker mounting rings? Like this: http://i.imgur.com/b3zCZLI.jpg

I have that black one, but I need two white ones.

Thanks in advance.

I once got some flat ones from Mighty Mite / AllParts but that has been a few years back. Good luck with your search!

the metal chromed brass ones are really flat

you could rough em up and paint em

Re: TeleGib project: FLAT humbucker mounting rings?

I use flat Ibanez metal humbucker rings on my Telecaster. If you really want the contrast, get some chrome ones, but I think black ones would be fine.

I need a couple of those as well. They have some on Ebay, but most of them are only a couple of millimeters tall.

Re: TeleGib project: FLAT humbucker mounting rings?

That is a good idea about getting 2 neck models.

Not only that, but make sure they're from/for a guitar that had a tremolo of some sort so they'll be completely flat rather than angled and taller.

awesome, thank you for that. I am going to look and see if they have any black ones. Thanks again

Tough to find, but I found some recently: these guys have flat, non-tapered (non-slanted) equal height rings:

I bought several sets and they're excellent quality and very inexpensive.
I just wanted to say thank you again. I found the black ones from them, and ordered them late Sunday night. they arrived today and are exactly what I needed. thank you again for posting that link. I have looked for about a week and never could find the exact ones that I wanted for a good price. these are perfect.
