Tell me about Blackstar amps

Re: Tell me about Blackstar amps

Hey rockstart, is that 40 watt loud enough for a full band situation like a rehersal with friends or a party :) ? I have a solid state 40 watt tbut sometimes I need to crank the volume while on the other hand people say tube amps are louder that solid state, I don't know.
My HT-5 is loud enough to jam with a band, and if I run it through a 4x12 it's way beyond loud enough. And if I run both of my HT-5's in stereo, it's even louder and better sounding.:)

Here's a couple of videos I did of me screwing around checking out some things.

Re: Tell me about Blackstar amps

Thanks for that JOLLY, I am really liking the tone of those amps in the demos. My only concern is I want a combo that is loud enough to jam with my friends in a rehersal (or a small gig like a party) and still be heard in the mix with drums, bass and another guitar but it is cool to know these amps have the option to connect to a bigger speaker to get louder.

So how may "Blackstar tube watts"should I get?

From my experience Cube 40 XL is enough but some times I need to crank the volume a bit but since legend is "tubes are louder" maybe a HT Club 40 would be enough, and if I ever need to get louder I can use a bigger cabinet.

Re: Tell me about Blackstar amps

The 40 will be more than enough for most applications. I've never found myself underpowered using one in any situation. I remember being told to turn down while playing a outside gig with it.

The demos are promising, I am really wanting to sell some stuff to get one of these.

Rockstar how would you boost the volume of your Club 40 when soloing in the drive channel? I was thinking a booster infront of the amp will not add too much volume when using lot of gain, I wonder if a clean boost like the TC Electronics Mini Booster in the FX loop can be used just to boost the volume when soloing.

I usually don't need a boost but if I know I will need a bit of a vol jump in a song I may roll my vol knob back a bit and put it to 10 when I need it. But yea you could buy a boost pedal of any kind use in front.
