Tell me about japanese LP copies.

Re: Tell me about japanese LP copies.

I think I'm gonna go for that SG, I hope the price stays low cause that shipping is a bitch

Re: Tell me about japanese LP copies.

I am not sure if it is Japanese or not but, for the $ the agile les pauls are great.

Re: Tell me about japanese LP copies.

I just noticed the shipping is only $75 I thought it was $110, I have about $600 from money I earn and throw in my drawer. The only thing I've gotta buy is a behringer v-amp2. I hope the price stays under there. I'm also selling the faded les paul in my signature, then I might sell my amp and get a bluesbreaker or something. I'm 14, make my own money and aint got no bills to pay, better take advantage of it while it last...haha

Re: Tell me about japanese LP copies.

those agile goldtops with P-90s do look cool, are they made with mahogany/maple?

Re: Tell me about japanese LP copies.

I just want to vouch for the Orville by Gibsons-Mac P's SG is awesome. It has a great neck and plays like a dream. Very resonant too.

Also, I have never played a bad MIJ Tokai LP, strat or tele copy-that company has it going on.

If I were in the market for an LP though, I would look for either a used USA Gibson LP Studio, or a Heritage. Heritage makes great LP copies-I just picked one up for $500-body is thinner than an LP, but it has a killer flame maple top and it has that old LP vibe to it. This company really is making Gibson copies the right way.

The Guy Who Invented Fire

As much as I think the Orville by Gibsons are great guitars, they DO NOT use USA hardware.

The Japanese guitars are metric, Orville included. So if you want to get a new bridge lets say, you can't use genuine Gibson parts. You need to use Tone Pros or something else metric.

The electronics are probably not USA either. I mean, why would they be? The guitars are manufactured in Japan.

I replaced all the electronics in that Orville by Gibson SG (CTS pots, etc). Not that there was anything wrong with the originals at all, but I just did it.

But I was not too fond of the stock pickups, so I replaced those as well. Now the guitar is killer, balanced, musical, etc.

For the money (the same as a Korean Epiphone), the guitar is near as good as a real Gibson 61 reissue, and I would say, plays BETTER (yes, better) than many 61's I have tried.

As a matter of fact, I was in the market to buy a new Gibson 61 reissue recently, and none that I tried played better than the Orville, so I didn't get one (I'm still looking).

The neck and fretwork on that guitar is awesome. Can't say enough good things about the playability. Big frets, low bouncy action with NO buzzes (crystal clear and still low all the way up the neck), just great.

And the PAINT JOB - man, it looks awesome. That dark blood red (you know, the color SG's are supposed to be but rarely are). The Orville by Gibsons used nitrocellulose laquer, and it still is glossy as hell. Can't beat that! (The regular Orvilles use a polyurathane finish)

My 7 cents!

Peace.
