Tell me about Marshall Amps

Re: Tell me about Marshall Amps

1987-89 Marshall 2210

..how easy was that?

Jeff Seal

I quote that as reminder because I think it's spot on.

"Tight bass, crunchy mids, and warm highs" are very much influanced by the speakers and the cab(s) when it comes to Marshalls, and not just circuts designs and tubes and things, however.

Re: Tell me about Marshall Amps

Marshall is a cabinet company who thinks that they are also making amps. Dude, seriously, if you want hi gain, strong mids with a plexi touch, get a Laney six knob AOR Pro-Tube Lead series, push it with tubescreamer like pedal and you will be done with it, and you will not spend more than $800 on a mint condition AOR, tight bass I agree will have to be provided by the cab.

Re: Tell me about Marshall Amps

ok dude i have what your looking for, get an ampeg vl 1002 lee jackson sig model. it's like a hot rodded jcm800

Re: Tell me about Marshall Amps

If you get a Marshall, make sure to pickup a Tube-Screamer. Thats a match that is really great.

Re: Tell me about Marshall Amps

effects loop.
high GAIN
Tight Bass. crunchy mids and warm highs.
!?!?

Not because i have one but what you list above is VHT in every way.
I was thinking you sound like an VHT Ultralead guy.

If you want even tighter than a Deliverance would be even better but it doesnt have all the gain and doesnt have an effects loop.

A VHT sounds real close to what you want.

Also Deizels are super tight as well and sound like what you want. They sound more compressed than the VHT's. I dont personally like em but i think they are close to what you want as well.

Both these amps have real tight bass, for dropped D,C stuff and retaining clarity, plus tons of gain on tap. The VHT's to me have more of a classic sound than the Deizel which is more compressed sounding to me.

Bogners are great too but they are looser sounding to me ( something i totally dig).

Sounds like you want a Chugga Chugga machine. I dont think you will dig a Marshall for that. Marshalls are looser sounding. Which i personally like more. I dont like super tight. That is why i got my VHT st50 which is looser than all the other VHTs.

I think the Ultralead and the Deizel are just what you are looking for.

Re: Tell me about Marshall Amps

The Splawns have three overdrive 'gears'. First gear will do Van Halen, and that's most of the clips you'll hear. But second gear is like an over the top 800 Marshall and third gear is pretty insane gain. Try and find a clip where the amp is in third gear and you'll hear what I mean. Could be just what you want. And the Splawns are much better made than current marshalls.
