Tell Me About the Fulltone Distortion Pro!!

Reading up on a zillion pedals is tiring work, and this pedal is one I don't read much about here or on TGP. Don't see so many on Ebay as other Fulltone pedals - does it not sell as well or do guys tend to not unload them? What is the skinny from those who know. Is it as smooth as promised?? never tried one but I do like some of the sound clips...FWIW, Stratdeluxer had one and hated it...

I had one too. Couldn't get a decent sound out of the thing. From what I've heard, it's an overglorified RAT clone. But I seem to remember a RAT sounding better. I eventually traded it across the board for a MXR Wylde OD. At least I can get some use out of that one.

From what I've read, there were some significant changes to it some time in 2003 or early 2004? Was yours the later version?

I've heard about the changes too but I don't know how significant they were. Mine was a 2002 and it wasn't worth dealing with to me. I got it in a trade so I offed it in a trade. No huge loss. Just disappointment considering I expected better.

Used to own a late model one. I couldn't get anything out of it either. Though it kinda sounded like an electric shaver w/tone. So unless you are in a bathroom noises cover band...

It's pretty awful... very mushy and farty and fuzzy and overall undefined. The redheaded stepchild of the Fulltone line. I wouldn't waste my time.

I first heard played it in 2002 in guitar center and was blown away how the damn thing sounded(played seymourduncan strat through JCM 2000) I could not shut up about for weeks. Then played about a year later and could not understand what was blown away about ..... so go figure.

I agree with some of the above criticisms. Add that it lacks that organic, Fulltone sound you get in the FD2, 69, 70, and OCD. Not as reponsive, and a b*tch to set when compared to the simplicity of their other models.

StratDeluxer makes a MUCH better pedal by modding a boss DS-1. The distortion pro is pretty lackluster.
