Tell me about the Sentient as a neck pickup!

Looking for a neck pickup to go in my Carvin DC127 with an Alt 8 in the bridge. At first was looking at a Jazz but want a little fatter and stronger pickup that taps better. Listening to the on line clips seems the Sentient is in the ballpark love the clarity and articulation + sweetness and warmth I hear but have not played one in real life. Anybody here using one who can chime in??

I have it in 2 guitars. Love it, sounds awesome. Nice liquid violin sounds, not too boomy yet still phat. Could be my fave of all Duncans, neck or bridge

The Sentient is still clear in the neck, but is the next step down from the Jazz- it is a little fatter. So I think it would be the right choice for you here.

Trust your ear a lot so thanks for chiming in here. I hear a richness in the tone clean that I don't hear in the clips of the 59 or the Jazz plus a fluidity at high gain on the solo voicing that seems unique with these. Don't know yet that the Alt8 will stay but looks like the Sentient it will be in the neck!

To my ears, it is certainly richer than the Jazz or 59. I think because it isn't as scooped.

Would also account for the fluid solo voice if it has a little more mid punch. Thanks for the info in looking at the tone chart didn' see that much difference so will take another look.
I need a pickup that will give me rich almost acoustic like cleans on one hand but also remain articulate with gain warm and clear. I do a lot of swells running the neck with Verb and Delay doing what i do at times. What i hear from the clips I have found tells me this one may be the ticket. I will run it with the Alt and see how it works but may in this guitar go to ether a Perpetual Burn or a 59/ Custom Hybrid. The Alt is nice at gain in particular but seems to have a pretty narrow frequency response. This particular guitar i need to be pretty versatile tone wise so---.
