Tell Me About Wayne Guitars

Empty Pockets

I just looked at a few of their guitars and they look like pretty much what I want in a guitar...a really sweet humbucker Strat with no pickguard and Duncan pickups...

Sooo how much would one of these things cost? Where can i find 'em used? Are they as good as they look, or should I just stick to Warmoth?

Thanks guys..

waynes are great guitars...there's not many places where you can find them though...i think the only place that carries any type of inventory is www.themusiczoo.com ...but i just saw on the wayne guitars website that they're selling these directly also now...brand new these cost around $1600-$1800+

great guitars

TwilightOdyssey would be the appropriate person to talk to about Wayne Guitars. He is the only member on here that I know of whos had experience with them and owns them. Hope that helps....... :burnout:

Re: Tell Me About Wayne Guitars

Yeh i just seen my Dream Guitar on their site. The Wayne exotic Rock Ledgend with the Blue watery graphic. But $2800 i don't think i can afford anytime soon :laugh2:

Re: Tell Me About Wayne Guitars

well, there's a pricetag at the oldest custom shop around yaknow.

if murray like his sunburst one so much he ordered aditional 3 axes, they really cant be bad.

BUT! WTF is up with the 2k4 headstock shape? it looks ugly as hell.

Re: Tell Me About Wayne Guitars

side note, is there (was there) a relationship between Wayne Charvels and Charvels?

LOL!!

thats what i asked ben earlier today.. let me dig it up for ya
wayne charvel was building charvels as custom guitars ... WC sold the line to grover jackson, they became jackson/charvel ... WC, the man, moved on to do other things. then he went back to custom guitars, they waynes, which are 100% original hand made guitars, again. NOW, charvel is bought by fender, and they are making guitars in the US again. but, they are RIPPING off the new wayne designs, the star, the bullseye, and the ghost flames etc...

Re: Tell Me About Wayne Guitars

I gotta know though,, even as big a VH fan as I am and I love the looks of their guitars,, even with the finest available hardware and wood, what could possibly make a bolt-on guitar cost $2800.00? Thats insane. No offense to TO or Wayne guitars but they are way overpriced.

I mean what does that guitar have that I could'nt have Warmoth build me for under $1000.00 and $250 for a killer paint job? Any insight would be appreciated.

Re: Tell Me About Wayne Guitars

i don't know much about them but i do know i'd love to own these two...although, the list price on them are $3660 (OUCH!!!)

well, imo, thats the price you pay for a legacy and a quality control you wont find anywhere else.

same question pretty much applies to the limited charvel VH axes.. no better than you could build yourself from warmoth parts, still they go skyhigh in prices. stating that eddie himself built them is a crapshot and it really doesnt matter in the end.

plus, the paintjobs slap your wallet quite a bit also. you'll find that a custom paintjob by one of the best costs a little bit more than 250. so, if you go the warmoth route you'd have the same guitar for around 1500 material vise, then you have to add some $ for the company so they can pay their workers and there you have a guitar for $2500

also, you're saying bolt-on like it's some kind of inferior design or something

Ya know, Craig, you post a good point. And when I went to Guitar Asylum, my intention was merely to check em out ... After playing 3 of them, tho, I noticed something: even with the same body wood, neck wood, bridge, and bridge pup, they all sounded different and played slightly differently. Once I laid my hands on that DeMartini python, I HAD TO HAVE IT!!

It's almost impossible to describe the psychopathic attention to detail on these guitars, from the flawless, wrap around HAND PAINTED GRAPHIC, to the finishing on the frets, the solid maple neck, the contour and feel of the profile as you play ... it's totally lust-inducing.

I would recommend you check one out and then see if you feel the same way! I'm willing to bet you won't!! :D

There really are no guitars being built like this today, period.

Re: Tell Me About Wayne Guitars

I would defninitely like to check one out TO.

Davey, I didn't mean that a bolt on is inferior (I own 2 bolt-ons) but they are much cheaper to make and usually command much less $$$ to buy. I just don't see the comparison to say a Wayne bolt-on with a fancy paint job and say a PRS Artist 10 top for the same $3000.00. NO COMPARISON.

Re: Tell Me About Wayne Guitars

Your point is well-taken Craig, and you know your stuff; but check one out 1st. There IS a comparison, imo. I've never been a fan of PRS, and this guitar is the alternative.

gotcha.. but thats where the 'to each his own' saying starts, doesnt it?

someone will fork over 3k's for a factory built gibson or PRS, which both are good instruments and require handwork (i dont mean that either are totaly machine assembeled) some other dude will put out 3k for a handbuilt custom axe with fanatic attention to detail
