tell me all about your favorite delays!

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

I just got a new MXR Carbon Copy, It is the best delay I have ever used do date

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

why is the Maxom Ad999 so expensive? they're going for almost $300. i rather get a EHX Memory Man for that price

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

According to Geofex, Tel-Ray sell the stuff - Union Carbide "Ucon" LB-65 - for $25 a can.

I'm not sure if they are actually still around even, all the post of the Geo-Fex forum are back from 06/07

Might be worth trying to email them still, but I'd make sure you've got the LB-65 obtained before pulling any oilcan reverb

They go for silly money on ebay due to rareness (and most people not having a clue what an oilcan reverb is, they think its just a cool "vintage" reverb lol") so you don't want to drop $350+ on something thats going to be nothing more than a display peice

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

No echoplex love?

I am not a delay person, never got along with delays ever. Tried ibanez, boss pedals, even have a DD-3 on my board with the hi-cut (analog) mod. Borrowed a friend DD-6 for a while.

Since I have gotten my echoplex, I dont think I'll ever use another delay. I'm not quite keen on the way it effects my distortion sound when bypassed like others tend to be (sound loses its bite and fizz for a more smooth and refined tone due to the preamps), but I'll build a bypass box for it. The echo is to die for. Unfortunately, size is a definate constraint. And they can be had for as much as some of these BBD delays are going for.

As cool as the Ep-3's are (good friend of mine picked one up recently) I don't think they can touch a Space Echo

Multi head delays just so much fun, and theres nothing that can get quite the same short slapback sound like a Space Echo.

Granted the Echoplex's do go for about $200 or so cheaper on the average, but getting those multitaps I think is well worth the money

Check one out, if you love an EP3 you should really love a Space Echo

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

I've had my DLS Echotap for a while and I really like it, but the switch is finally starting to go.

Oh, absolutely - I agree entirely.

I'd much rather try an oilcan than own one. ;)

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

It's weird but my old 90's DOD's are nice and warm sounding for digital... even my 90's DOD multiFX unit has some nice sounding delays... that MultiFX unit has some serious long delays to it... repeats go on forever... too bad the OD/Distortion part of that MultiFX unit does not work well as it's time based FX's are amazing.... i'm going to try and use it in my FX loop for delays and chorus settings

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

ok, this thread got me thinking bout Delays.. Went to GC and tried the new MXR Delay and it was kinda cool cant decide tween that or a Boss dd6

If you want a Boss DD-6, wait a month or so and get the new DD-7 that's coming out.

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

Whats going to be diff about it??

longer delay. longer hold function

can accept a external foot tap switch or an expression pedal.

added analog delay simulator (IIRC)

added modulation effect. kinda like a subtle chorus or what not.

check it out at bossus.com

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

I REALLY liked the maxon AD-80 reissue. it's analog, three knob, simple, really warm sounding, & true bypass. they stopped making it though

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

I will...in a little while.:)

I really like the vintage Ibanez DL10, it's digital but not harsh at all. Only does 400ms and has tiny headroom issues, but that was enough for me...I need to pick up another at some point....

I was wondering if someone on here was going to mention this gem. It definitely is one of the unknown marvels of delay out there. It's one of the warmest analog sounding digital delays I have ever heard. I never A/B'ed it with my Arion SAD-1 but either one of them are top notch.

Re: tell me all about your favorite delays!

I like my Arion SAD-1. It's severely cheap and simple, and it's analog and stereo. There's an ending to one of my songs where I have the repeat and depth on on all the way and the delay on 4 (out of 11), then I flip the delay down to 1 to make it severely fast and oscillate then bring it back up and continue to play with it, then (the reason why I love the pedal), because it's so cheap and old, I can sometimes just grab it and shake the hell out of it and it will make some really weird noises. I love it. Good sound, fun to play with, and I got it for only $30. So awesome.
