Tell me everything about the Duncan Invader.

Re: Tell me everything about the Duncan Invader.

I also like the Invader alot in my SG Standard... I don't find it muddy at all w/ 500K CTS vol/tone pots. I run through an old Marshall JCM 800 50 watt, and my knob settings might help the pup out alittle.... I like presence all the way up, treble 8, mid 5, bass 10.......... sounds great with my set-up ! I only play 1/2 step, and 1 whole step downtuned, and it sounds great for both, not mushy as others said. Set it like 1/8" away from the strings, and bring up the treble side just slightly. Do some SLIGHT pole piece adjustments if needed, dont over adjust, about a half turn is the most I like to go.
For mine I lowered the Low E piece down 1/5 turn, raised the A string piece 1/10 of a turn, raised D 1/4 of a turn, lowered G 1/6 of a turn, raised B 1/8 of a turn, raised high E 1/5 of a turn.

This evened out the blend of each string perfect, having the treble side slightly higher makes solo's cut perfect.

PS - You don't get the full appreciation our of the Invader unless you crank you amp up really high ! (I run my master vol on 8 alot, because I record alot)

Good luck !

Man that must sound sooo bad@$$!!! I would love to hear it with your setup. The invader is defenantly a very misunderstood pickup.

Re: Tell me everything about the Duncan Invader.

Oh, I was just there not long ago, around the Eastpointe area.

Re: Tell me everything about the Duncan Invader.

Yeah, I have it paired with an old 80's Invader neck model in the neck, i'll sample that too for you ;)

I love shreds, those are the two pickups I use... Full Shred (80's bridge model) and Invaders(neck and bridge) :) my two favorites so far... I got rid of all the others that's i've tried, couldn't find a prefect match, but the shred and invaders are perfect for my set-up ! :) Cheers !

Re: Tell me everything about the Duncan Invader.

How does lowering the height of an Invader affect the above descriptions? Better? Not much difference? Crap? I've never used one, just curious.

Like any other pickup, will become a bit smoother, darker.
