Re: Tell me more about the Anniversary Seths
I think it was a Guitar Center/ Musicians Friend disconnect from Duncan Sales and one company was saying A2, the other A5. It was just a mix up. So, to settle all the uproar, they made them in both style magnets.
I've put A5 magnets in my Antiquities. The results were quite different, more ballsy if you will. Funny though, after trying A3's, I ended up going back to A2's and being done with it.
For these Seths', my comment is this...
1. If you want a special limited edition pickup with engraved covers, then these are for you.
2. If you want a stock A5 version of the Seth, these are for you.
3. If you want a plain, "normal" looking A2 Seth, these are not for you.
I'd bet a dollar to a donut that the anniversary A2 Seths are exactly the same as the normal A2 Seths. Identical except for the cover.
Last year at this time, Evan had the very first PAF pickup ever wound displayed at the NAMM show (under glass of course). He actually got to hear it in a guitar. Guess which pup it sounded most like? A normal 59. (A5 magnet)
So, if you want historical accuracy in terms of how that first one sounded, then grab an A5 Annie Seth and you're there. (that is if you trust Evan's ears)
