so this s the first time i post something on here.. i chose the Unchained from VH riff, figured if im gonna post a 78/EVH pickup clip i should post some VH but i dont realy know much of van halen so i learned this just earlier for this clip.. plus i just kinda like how it sounded with this new pickup. I did this rather quick and the playin might be a bit off and the generic beat sucks lol but this a short 30 sec clip of the '78 neck in the bridge of my strat, let me know what you think.

havent played with the eq or anything i just pluged and recorded this in 10 minutes.. i think it sounds just a bit harsh maybe, i dont know.. i could prolly fix it by tweaking my gear accordingly

yea im realy liking it.. tho i have no idea if the bridge version sounds as good or better or diferent.. this is the neck version i put in the bridge, so the "regular" 78 might sound slightly diferent, perhaps just a bit hotter since its 9k ish and this is more 8k ish..

i say just try it out, could be good or bad but to me this is the best thing that has hapened to my strat since the HS-2.. wich hasnt moved and is stil on its original solder i did 7 years ago.. now i gotta find the perfect neck pickup and this thing is set, tho i kinda enjoy the fender TS for now, we'll see if it sticks.. maybe ill try a surfer or something eventualy but for now im very happy with this axe.. soundwise

Bitching tone!!
Just the right balance of warm and more in your face!!
I want a 78 even more now!:D

Me too.

Dammit the Evo2 is going now.

Me three. The problem is I don't have a guitar to put it in....LOL.

That sounds great. I've played the 78 Model in one of Lew's Squire Jap Strats. All I gotta say is WOW! It's definitely one of my favorite bridge pickups. "Chewy" is the best way to describe it.

then get annother guitar! :laugh2:

it defenetly has a "something" i never heared from any other bucker.. or guitar period.. i especialy was sceptical of the A2 and when i pluged it it jsut blew my mind lol seems to be a very lively pickup and responsif to how you play and i just love how you can realy dig in the strings with it.. i guess i can see some chewy in it.. tho i kinda wonder how it compares to the "normal" 78

From what I heard in your clip, they sound very very similar. The "normal" 78 being would a little hotter. Even though it has been a while since I played Lew's Strat with it, it's a sound that doesn't leave the brain, ya know? It's just so distinct and impressive that you don't forget.

hide it in the closet.. make a exact replica of one of your strats and switch em back and forth, just be careful not to ever have both of em in the same room.. then your screwed lol :fingersx:

:laugh2: She knows more about my stuff than you think. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have the Brobucker. I'd be screwed regardless. :laugh2:
