Tested for V1/Phase Splitter Positions

hi guys,
my amp takes 3 x 12ax7 tubes, on the tube site i use there are options to buy factory Tested ones or (Tested for V1/Phase Splitter Positions ) does this mean that i must use Tested for V1/Phase Splitter 12ax7 tubes in the v1 position only ????? or if i used only factory tested 12ax7 tubes in the v1 poition what will i hear ???? hope you guy can help,

Well.....it would help if you gave a link to the sight you are referring to.
It could be marketing BS, or they may be referring to something you are not mentioning in your post here.
Easiest thing would be to ask them.....but I would say NO.....you can use the AX7 anywhere.
They may be talking about noise, gain, triode matching.....who knows...it must give more info on the sellers sight than just "tested for V1".....tested for what.?

Some people prefer a balanced PI tube so it sends a more matched pair of signals to the poweramp in a class A/B setup.

And some people prefer a V1 tube that puts out more gain than normal, so they are probably selecting high gain tubes in this instance.

But it's all a matter of preference. Some people prefer an unbalanced PI tube, and a normal gain tube.
