Testing Pick-ups.........

Hey Guys,

Another semi-stupid question: How do you test the output of a pick-up? I assume a multi-meter that measures impedence, but where do you stick the probes???? (Boy, am I setting myself up or WHAT???!!!!) :laugh2: :laugh2:

Re: Testing Pick-ups.........

well, first bend over... :)

measuring the output of a pup is kinda difficult, you are talking about measuring the dc resistance. to do that, you put one probe on the ground wire and the other on the hot wire. youll want both wires unattached to anything or you will get an incorrect reading

Re: Testing Pick-ups.........

So you want to measure them "straight out of the box"....unattatched to ANYTHING?

Re: Testing Pick-ups.........

yes

I poke around the little solder points on single coils - on the bottom of the pickup - until I get a reading

it seems like you could probably just probe the bare ends of the wires, but I usually use the solder points

Re: Testing Pick-ups.........

Thanks alot fellas. Just bought a new multi-meter the other day & I was curious as to how to do this.
