are they all 43 or 42 for the neck & middle & i dont think your gonna get 7.4k of 42 on the bridge pickup so im gonna say its 43 on the bridge

Re: texas specials what gauge of wire

Duncan's is #42 formwar for the neck and middle, and I guess #44 for the bridge.

Fender's is #42 plain enamel for the neck middle and bridge.

i was going to wind a simlar set but i was just curious about wire, i dont think your gonna get more than 7.5 k of 42 on the bridge bobbin ,you can but its gonna be really full and the guys who looked at them said the bridge pickup is not that full so its probably 43 that i know but i was planning on winding the neck and middle with 42

When I was experimenting way back when, I could put 8.50K #42 into a tele lead pickup. Of course, there is also the issue about tension and all, but still... Moreover, I also had a 8.00K #42 a5 tele lead wound by OC Dufff, was a great pickup.

So thus, I don't think you are right.

Here you could see that Fralin is using 7.20K on his Blues Special strat pickup with a #42 wire:

i know i can put over 7 k of 42 on fiber bobbin i have done it a few times. but a few guys that had a look at them said the bridge pickup did not look full so i was assuming it was 43

dr.barlo is correct, all 3 pickups are 42 guage plain enamel. For Strat pickups, Fender seldom uses anything other than 42 guage wire.
