Thanks Bachtorock! My Hybrids Sounded So Great Last Night!

Practice with my band last night was great! Probably one of the top best overall nights for tone,playmanship,and everyone just having a great time playing and being together..I've been with these guys for 13 years now!

Anyway...Now that I've got my Love Rock LP all fixed as far as the buzzing and stuff I had last week,this guitar is just fabulous...It has the Jazz/59 in the neck with A4 and a 59/custom A2 in the bridge....I was getting such great tone last night plugged into my Plexitone pedal and into my Vox VTH 120 into the 2x12 V30 cab...I also think my V30s finally got broken in and Man I was getting great tone last night! These are rare moments,but when everything is on(band,tone,tightness,etc..)it's a great time!

Just wanted to say thanks again to Bachtorock,RID,Jeff B,Stevo,Doc Barlo,and Lew for the tips about the A4 magnet,the Hybrids,and this Plexitone pedal that I absolutely love! :dance:

The Hybrids really are fantastic sounding and really inspire you to play your best...

Pete....These pickups are great! They just have that extra fullness and harmonics that I hear when playing with really good gear and with some gain...There's a nice warmth and clean tone,but yet the pickups also growl with authority and nice cut...The pickups seem to be almost warm,but with a perfect eq in the mids and a throaty cutting tone that isn't peircing...

I'm 100% done trying any other pickups in this axe! :dance:

I guess you could see your tone was very "even" at practice.

When I can I just may have to try one of these myself. We'll see. Other projects are lined up ahead of it.

Ryan....So you stayed with A5s in both of your hybrids right?

The A4 in the neck and the A2 Bridge has been great in my guitar...Great volume balance and a really great round,open tone in the bridge with just the right amount of jangle in the bridge...The bridge pickup is clean and clear but also full sounding in the lows and the mids without sound thin and anemic there...The 59B pickup was good,but it doesn't have these traits I mention with this Hybrid there...Could just be my guitar cause I really wanted the 59B to work and it also had the A2 magnet..

I still would like to try the Dimarzio VPAF Hot in the bridge of my SG though?

I'd like to know about those VPAF's too. I've been hearing lots of good things about them. I have a PAF on the way for my frankenstrat. That'll be the second DiMarzio I've ever owned but I have tried others in other guitars that have come OEM or that a friend had.

I really like the Dimarzio Fred alot in the bridge....I'm intriqued with the new Dimarzio VPAF Hot and I'm reading nothing but great reviews(mostly)about it..

The other DMZ I owned was the X2N and that was over 10 years ago. Talk about going from one end of the line to the other. The X2N is massive hot and the PAF is just over 8k. Can't wait to try it actually. It'll be paired up with an APS-1 in the neck.

I've never been into anything that was too far away from a PAF type of pickup,simply because I have got to retain note clarity..I hate a muddy,mushy tone that is washed out by too much high gain or pickups that are too hot...I prefer single coils normally for these very reasons,plus I like the way single coils clean up right away on the volume control...

How does the hybrid sound with a5? Is it too bright?

A bit brighter but not alot,but it's tighter in the lows and feel and more direct and out front...

The A2 is sweeter and round sounding with that nice mild "squish" to the notes that I prefer in my bridge pickups...The A2 isn't at all muddy though!

If you love the CC and you like the clean jangly highs of the 59,you'll love the 59/c hybrid...It's still chimey and clear,but it's also ballsy and it splits to 7k so you can get a pretty decent split tone with it also,but you need to use the Custom's slug coil...Add to the chime and balls,some extra special harmonic content and you have the hybrid...You really don't know too much about it until you try one..
