Thanks Gibson, you're awesome!

Thank you for using just the right amount of glue in the nut slot. Who can count the number of tragedies that have fallen upon the guitar world by too little glue. Some would view the hour plus I spent removing the old nut as time needlessly wasted, but not me. No I admire the liberal application of glue as quality at its finest. Too bad I did not chip the wood or I could have spent more time admiring the 1000 year old mahogany.

Re: Thanks Gibson, you're awesome!

At least you know the proper technique for removing a stubborn nut. I was shown that method by one of LA's best techs.......the guy who did a flawless job changing the nut on my SG Diablo, Paul Flynn.

In the past, I've done some messy jobs on a couple Gibsons that were caked with glue and lacquer. Trying to tap one out, I lifted up the headstock veneer and had to glue that back down.
I've sworn off doing nut replacements on Gibsons that are cemented in there. I'm not practicing on my expensive guitars.
I have no problem with easier Fender type jobs.

Ahhhhhhh….

Gibson quality. When only a sloppy @$$ job is good enough!

And that trickles down to Epi and Kramer.

My very first reaction after seeing the 2nd photo was WHAT THE F...

I admire your perseverance...

At least you DO know the proper way to remove a stubborn nut. Some guys would have destroyed the guitar in the process...that make for a very VERY expensive nut job.

Re: Thanks Gibson, you're awesome!

I hate removing Gibson nuts so much

In fact, as much as I'd prefer TUSQ or bone, I leave the corian in unless it gets worn too low or gets chipped. Never an easy job.

Re: Thanks Gibson, you're awesome!

I don't think dude had much trouble getting the Corian nut out of my Faded V.

Re: Thanks Gibson, you're awesome!

Some people have taken nut making to an art form... I am not one of them. :D

I will fine tune it when I finish up the frets.
