Thanks, I hate it: the Verso "Cosmo" guitar

I really dislike the look of this thing, and there are some questionable functional elements (i.e. weird string angles on the headstock, non-adjustable saddles). I don't want one. But I want to play one and hear it and mess around with the pickups. Completely movable adjustable neodymium pickup held to the body magnetically. Wild stuff. What do you think?

It seems that without much additional work, they could have improved some design elements like straighter string pull.

It looks to be a guitar made by an artist, not a sales engineer. Sure it doesnt look like it was designed by a guitar player, but they werent really restricted by the conventions that guitar players enforce when designing instruments. Guitar players have gotten too comfortable with their ergonemic designs, and this goes against that. They look cool and seem to startle the purists as well. And I can appreciate all of those things.

We are getting 12 inches of snow tomorrow. I wouldn't mind one of those guitars to shovel the driveway.

Really pricey for a snow shovel.

Honestly kinda pricey for a guitar.

I'm into the pickup idea though. I think it would be really funny if they had a mechanical lever to move it around in place of the pickup selector switch.

I don't mind unconventional designs (I love the Teuffel Tesla) but I think it should be a functional guitar first. I dig the body design, but the non-adjustable bridge would really bother me when chords sound out of tune up the neck.

Not my dream guitar but I'd give it some thought if it was >$1000 & had a Floyd. Upper fret access is looking good :bigthumb:

new body shapes that are visually appealing and unique are probably very tough to come up with at this point. I like it. I'd be stoked to play it and check it out.

IMO the reference standard guitar was designed in the mid 50s:

you can add humbuckers or P90s, make out of Alder, mahogany, maple, rosewood, whatever...MM Silhouette is a compact version but still the basic design. Les Pauls are too darn heavy...IMO.

Strats are ergonomic to me, most other body shapes are not, least of all the LP.

The MM/EB Silhouette Special is one of the best refinements of a Strat shape...more sculpted, and better balanced (and lighter). As far as the Verso Cosmo goes, if they are at NAMM this year I will give it a try.
