THD...? any experiences?

The UniValve, BiValve and new Flexi 50 look intersting! (i know i'm sick...i haven't had my new amp for 24 hours and i'm already starting to G.a.s!)

anyone have any experiences with them...i know you can switch tubes like crazy without rebiasing and stuff (that's kinda cool), but how good could it sound with a function like that...could it sound as good as an amp specifically built for certain tubes already?!

The Flexi is a great amp. With the Hot Plate, you can get great tone at decent volumes. I'm not really happy with the cleans on it, but you get the boost mode kicked in on the distortion and it's lead heaven :)

Re: THD...? any experiences?

i don't think they have reverb though do they...i like built in reverb, i've never tried any of the pedals though, so i can't say that i'd have to have it!?

Re: THD...? any experiences?

I had a Uni....my 1st tube amp!!!

It was a great learning tool...but with an addictive personality like yours & MINE, getting new tubes & swapping became the norm as opposed to just playing the damn thing!

If you can get a Uni with a tube stash for a decent price, I'd say do it...they hold their USED value pretty much.

Would I buy another, probably not. I think there are better amps out there once you figure out what you're looking for....

+1

Great for driven sounds!

Re: THD...? any experiences?

I was briefly impressed with my Bivalve when I first got it. Turned out I didnt' like the tone that much, and found the amp more hype than anything else. It is great if you want to play mad scientist with tubes....but that's about the only thing I'd give the thumbs up on.

Re: THD...? any experiences?

i kinda figured it would drive me crazy with wanting to change tubes all the time too... :smack: it would be fun though (especially if i found one that already came with several sets!)!!! i figured it couldn't be as good as an amp that was destined for certain tubes...?!

i really love the Fandango, Quiana, and the Peavey Classics...i think i'll probably stick with one of those for my next amp...unless i try something i haven't played yet and fall in love with it!?
