the 411 on torres amp mods

Re: the 411 on torres amp mods

Tread carefully with Torres mods.:13: Ole' Dan is more of a salesman than Amp Guru IMO! Some of his mods are hokey and over priced. For instance: Torres sell a mod to convert your Princeton to a adjustable Bias for something like $25 or $30 bucks.:smack: If you go to Doug Hoffman's website. He has very clear instructions how to do this on his site for free!
And if you buy the parts from Hoffman, With S&H it's about $6 bucks.

Re: the 411 on torres amp mods

I had their gain mod for my old Carvin X-100B and I wasn't happy with it at all. Simply put, it didn't do what they said it would.

Re: the 411 on torres amp mods

If thier amp mod kits are anything like thier guitar wiring harnesses - run, dont walk.

Re: the 411 on torres amp mods

I think it's also worth pointing out that he sells the crappy "lawrence" swampcaster pickups instead of real bill-n-becky lawrences. He lost all respect with that move.

Re: the 411 on torres amp mods

:flush: Torres amp mods = Ed Roman Guitar selling high end product = a lot of :bsflag:

Re: the 411 on torres amp mods

I got a purple limited edition bluesbreaker reissue real cheap years ago because of a Torres mod. Master volume, more gain. The most disgusting thing I've ever heard. Cost me an extra hundred bucks, but the tech restored the amp to original and it was beautiful again. seriously, the amp sounded like a bunch of bees shaving before the mod was removed. Completely unusable.

Did this guy ever do anything to get a name?
